(Crowd cheers as Arcemise joins the hosts, with a few boos)
Johnny S. Welcome to the show Arcemise, its great having you here.
Arcemise N. Its great to be here Johnny.
Johnny S. Now Ive always wondered how to pronounce your name. Did I get it right?
Arcemise N. Yeah, its Ark-eh-mize. Like that. Not many people get it right so no hard feelings.
Johnny S. Great, now tell me about your book. Ive read it and enjoyed it but tell the audience a little something about what happens in it.
Arcemise N. Well, the story mostly follows the experiences of a particular fireteam during the initial battles that erupted right after the declaration of war on the country of Izan.
Johnny S. Now the book is fairly graphic, is it not?
Arcemise N. Yes, I did make it fairly graphic. These soldiers go through hell and I didnt want to cheat them with my story. War forces people to do horrible things to other humans, and I wanted the audience to understand that.
Stephanie C. Now I want to point out an observation, that I and some of my viewers have made.
Arcemise N. Sure, go ahead.
Stephanie C. Are you sexist?
Arcemise N. Wait, what?
Stephanie C. Are you sexist? Do you hate women?
Arcemise N. What? No! I dont even know what would give you that impression.
Stephanie C. Well you certainly seem to be promoting violence against them.
Arcemise N. I am not!
Stephanie C. Are too!
Arcemise N. Would you have preferred it if they were men instead?
Johnny S. Well, this is getting a little out of hand.
Arcemise N. No John, I need to clear this up. Yes, my story has women in it. Yes, it has women getting killed in it. Im not encouraging the violence, its just what happens in war. People: man, woman, or child can all fall victim to the violence of war. I have nothing against women. In fact, Ive known many wonderful women throughout my life and Im sure Ill meet many more. This story of mine isnt about some deep seated hatred for the opposite sex. Its about how people struggle to uphold their morals while defending those they love. Its a story about humanity, not gender roles. If you still complain that they should all be males, youve probably missed my point. Just know that its staring you right in the face.
Johnny S. Well, thats all the time we have tonight. Tune in again for our next update on the war in Izan.
From the author:
This isn't really a satire of any peoples in particular, more of just a story that I felt like telling. Though familiar, all of the characters/locations depicted in this comic are fictional.
I would also like to say the men and women in the armed forces all over the world have my greatest respect. Without all of you, none of this would be possible. Thank you
